Lead climbing on bolted volcanic routes with a local guide who knows every clip. Single-pitch and multi-pitch routes on some of the best rock in the Atlantic.
If you're a climber looking for sport climbing in Madeira, you've found the right people. We're not a tour operator — we're a local climbing center with active climbers who lead climb these routes every week. We know the rock intimately, from the best warm-up routes to the hardest projects on the island.
Madeira's volcanic basalt offers exceptional friction and unique features — crimps, pockets, tufas, and sea-eroded holds that you won't find on limestone or granite. The routes range from French 4a to 7c+, with the majority of quality lines in the 5–6c range. Whether you want to cruise comfortable grades with ocean views or push your limits on steep overhangs, we've got the route for you.
Our sport climbing sessions are tailored for climbers who already have some experience with lead climbing or top-roping outdoors. We'll handle all the logistics — transport, route selection based on conditions, and we bring all the gear. You just need to bring your climbing fitness and your stoke.
Madeira has a growing collection of bolted sport climbing routes across multiple crags. The rock is predominantly basalt — solid, sharp, and with excellent friction even in humid conditions. Routes are well-bolted with stainless steel hardware.
