About this Spot
The dramatic eastern tip of Madeira Island offers some of the most scenic climbing on the island. The exposed volcanic landscape, surrounded by ocean on all sides, provides a truly unique climbing experience. Baía da Abra is the go-to sector for beginners and intermediate climbers, with easy to moderate routes and a sheltered bay. The main Ponta de São Lourenço sector offers more challenging lines with breathtaking views. This is the primary spot used for guided outdoor climbing tours.
